Bribery and corruption videos

by Mark Rowe

If you are faced with the decision “do you want this business or not?”, do you think of the consequences, even if you feel tempted or obliged to agree to pay a bribe or ‘facilitation fee’?

City of London Police have launched three free bite-sized films to raise awareness of the perils of professionals and companies getting themselves caught up in bribery and corruption. The Cell, The Bribery Act and The Conversation have been designed with DfID, to look at the consequences of making the wrong decision.

The released of the three short videos comes a year after the City of London Police, which is the National Policing Lead for Fraud, made a longer training video for companies about the damage caused by bribery and corruption, titled ‘The consequences begin at home’. Visit the force website.

Detective Constable Mark Lugton said: “We would encourage companies to look at the films and use them in their internal training or induction programmes to raise awareness of the impact of bribery and corruption on individuals and companies.

“The videos are free; all we ask is if they are used then please let us know in what context you are using them i.e. internal website, training etc, and, if possible, the numbers of people who have viewed it. These details will be really helpful for our usage statistics.
