Asian oil and gas forum

by Mark Rowe

The conference organiser, IRN, will launch the inaugural Central Asia and Caspian Oil & Gas Security 2014 Forum (CACOGS).

The event will take place on April 8 and 9, in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku and will address issues including counter-terrorism, theft prevention, pipeline and infrastructure protection, relations with the local community, maritime security and cyber security within the oil and gas industry in the wider Central Asia and Caspian region.

The organisers say that many Central Asian and Caspian countries are blessed with natural resources, and though secure compared to many other oil rich nations, there are a number of specific security challenges that have to be addressed by international and national oil companies operating in the area.

The proceedings will be opened by the Ministry of Energy of the host country, Azerbaijan, and delegates will then hear presentations and case studies.

IRN adds that its 2nd Oil & Gas Security Summit last summer in London was attended by representatives from TAQA, Baker Hughes, Bankers, Petroleum Ltd., Betafence, BG Tunisia, CEPSA, Exxonn Mobil, GDF Suez, Genel Energy, Husky Energy Inc, NCOC, Nexen Petroleum, OMV, Petrofac, Qatar Petroleum, Raytheon, Repsol, Rosneft, Shell International BV, Sonangol E&P, National Oilwell Varco, Statoil, Lockhed Martin, Tecpetrol, G4S, Subsea 7, Total E&P and others.
