Sports Award

by msecadm4921

G4S Events, the specialist events division of G4S Security Services (UK), won a SportBusiness Sports Event Management Award for its security and stewarding services to The Derby Festival at Epsom Downs Racecourse, and The Championships, Wimbledon.

The award was presented to Mark Hamilton, Managing Director of G4S Events, at the awards ceremony which was held at the St Pancras, Novotel hotel in London on Wednesday, November 12.

Mark Hamilton, pictured, was featured in the September print issue of Professional Security Magazine. He says: “It is an honour to receive this award for two such iconic events in Britain’s summer calendar. By working closely with our customers, the police and local authorities, we are proud to have been involved in the development of security procedures which have raised the bar for the rest of the industry.”

The Derby Festival, Epsom Downs Racecourse

In 2008, working with Epsom Downs Racecourse and Surrey Police, G4S delivered a solution that reduced the number of police officers required to attend the festival, which in turn reduced the cost of securing the event for the customer. It’s the first company permitted to restrain and detain members of the public on land which has unrestricted public access.

The Championships, Wimbledon

As official suppliers of security to The Championships, Wimbledon, from Securicor days, G4S oversees the safety and security of competitors, 6,000 people working at the grounds and around 45,000 visitors across the 42 acre site. More information about G4S services to The Championships, Wimbledon can be found at http://www.g4swimbledon.com/

G4S has worked with Epsom Downs Racecourse and the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) for over 20 years.
