Tootal to speak to institute

Stuart Tootal is the keynote speaker at the Security Institute’s fifth annual conference. It’s running on September 20, at the London Regents Park Marriott Hotel between 9am and 5pm.

 

Stuart Tootal joined Barclays as the global head of security for all retail operations across the world. His 20 year career in the British Army (retiring as a full colonel in 2008) included operational service in Northern Ireland, the 1991 Gulf War, 2003 invaison of Iraq and Afghanistan as commander of 3 PARA Battle Group in 2006.

 

Awards include an OBE for work in the MoD in 2004 for restructuring the Army and a DSO for leading 3 PARA in Afghanistan in 2006. He is author of ‘Danger Close – Leading 3 PARA in Afghanistan‘. Since 2010 he has been chairman and founder of the Charity Commission registered Parachute Regiment Afghanistan Trust charity, which has raised money for wounded paratroopers.

 

Other posts included attending the Joint Staff College in 1998, working in the MOD’s Army Plans and as a Lt Col Military Assistant to General Sir David Richards in the Chief of Staffs Office in 2003-4.

 

Also speaking is Dr Aarti Anhal, UK Chief Operating Officer at 4C Strategies. She joined the company from Crisis Solutions, where, as part of her role as Director of Future Operations, she acted as Senior Consultant on projects ranging from the development of a risk management programme for one of the UK’s largest broadcasters to management teams in numerous crisis simulation exercises and strategic workshops.

Earlier, Aarti managed the Consulting Team at Olive Group, providing risk and crisis management consultancy services to multinationals operating in high-risk environments, including Iraq and Afghanistan. Academically, she gained an LLB/Maitrise in English and French Law at King’s College London and the Université de Paris I (Sorbonne), followed by an MA in International Peace and Security. She has a PhD in International Studies from the University of Cambridge.

 

Among 4C clients are the Collective Training Group (CTG) in the British Army; and Gatwick Airport, for design and delivery of training to support its incident and crisis management (ICM).
