Interview: Roy Cooper on Security Twenty 13
It seems like everyone’s talking about the new kid on the block when it comes to events on the security calendar this year –Security Twenty 13 on 27th March at the Forest of Arden Hotel.
Professional Security’s first ever event has been masterminded by newly appointed Liz Lloyd and the magazine’s managing director Roy Cooper, who between them have put their wealth of industry experience to good use. icomply, the leading provider of cost-effective integration software for control rooms, wanted to find out exactly why Security Twenty 13 is shaping up to be so different, with some insider knowledge from Roy himself in an exclusive interview.
What can delegates expect from Security Twenty 13?
“If you’re attending Security Twenty 13 as a delegate, you can expect to learn something new about the ever-changing security industry. We have invited a wide range of speakers to the conference who will be sharing their thoughts and inviting questions regarding their specific knowledge base. Andrew Rennison, Surveillance Camera Commissioner, will give an update on CCTV regulation; James Kelly from the BSIA will be sharing knowledge on new standards for 2013; and Bill Butler from the SIA will be updating delegates on new developments for 2013.”
So, Security Twenty 13 has an educational focus?
“Yes, exactly. I want delegates to be able to take something away from the conference that they didn’t know before. This kind of information is readily available, but it’s not easily understandable. Security Twenty 13 will be an opportunity for delegates to ask questions and discuss complicated aspects of the security industry with the relevant leading industry professionals.

What are you most excited about for Security Twenty 13?
“Personally, I’m looking forward to networking and connecting with new and old security industry faces. I’ve been attending conferences for many years now, and with my previous experience as a distributor, and Liz’s experience in running successful events, I think we have the winning formula for Security Twenty 13. We’ve had countless positive responses about the event as everyone wants to see it succeed, and, of course, so do I! I can exclusively reveal that we will be holding more events later this year, which is fantastic news.
