Event sector survey

by Mark Rowe

In the January 2017 print issue of Professional Security magazine, we featured the talk by Mark Harding as chairman of the trade body the UK Crowd Management Association (UKCMA), at the UK Security Expo in London. Ranging over the event security and stewarding sector, Mark said that with the Football Safety Officers Association (FSOA), the UKCMA was going to run a survey, to find out how the sector is shaping, with an aim of benchmarking the current and future levels of resources available.

That online survey is now on the FSOA website; there are two separate surveys, one for purchasers of security personnel and one for suppliers of personnel.

Organisers say that this survey forms part of a collective approach by the Football Safety Officers Association (FSOA), the security industry regulator the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and United Kingdom Crowd Management Association (UKCMA) to provide a clearer picture of the situation and the challenges ahead.

It will take only about ten minutes of your time. The survey is anonymous, and only aims to use the information for statistics and industry analysis. Any individual company information will not be shared with any third parties.

The overall benefit of this will be to see what condition the industry is in, what to expect in the coming years and see how collectively to improve. The deadline for submissions is close of business on Wednesday, February 8, 2017.

Should you have any queries or technical issues, contact: [email protected], at the event stewarding and security contractor Showsec, who is providing administrative support to the FSOA on behalf of the UKCMA. Visit http://www.fsoa.org.uk/survey/.
