Cases for drones, kit

by Mark Rowe

Peli UK launched new Air cases, pictured, at the UK Security Expo 2016 in London.

This new range has been designed to maintain durability, but reduce the weight of each case, the product company says. This has been achieved by using Peli’s lightweight HPX resin, a proprietary formula that rebounds without breaking. Air cases also feature honeycomb structural elements that are actually stronger than solid polymer material and there are super-stiff “full box” sections engineered to create hollow parts.

Air cases are waterproof and crushproof and offer extra sizes to the Peli Protector and Storm case lines. They come in several internal configurations: with Pick N Pluck foam, with Padded Dividers (redesigned with a fully-sewn tub, felt surfaces and high-vis yellow interior) and with TrekPaksystem. Trekpak is new to the UK; this divider system uses pre-installed wall sections, divider panels, locking pins and a fool-proof cutting tool. The rigid panels are customised using the cutting tool and there is extra divider material to reconfigure the system.

The Peli Protector Case models are watertight (to the IP67 standard), crushproof and dustproof to provide protection for essential equipment. The cases have Nato stock numbers and many models have Defstan 81-41 certification. With engineered foam inserts to protect valuable or sensitive gear during transit, they also offer secure transportation for weapons and drones, the company adds. Custom foam inserts are designed to keep each component in place during transit. Pockets in the foam are for all the kit to be accounted for after use.

Area lighting

Peli Remote Area lights can be carried to wherever they are needed and each unit is designed to be set up and operational within seconds, the makers claim. Using LED lighting, the product range provides up to 12,000 lumens of light, while other models offer a battery run time of up to 40 hours.

The latest model in the RALS range is the Peli 9490. This self-contained system is silent running. A development of the 9430 model, the area light offers a longer mast, and swappable battery packs. The 9490 features a 10 LED head that extends above 1.8 metres. The mast can be rotated and the head angled to position the light where required. The unit has three pre-set light levels; high, medium and low. Preferred run time of up to 24 hours can be selected with the intelligent control mode. Visit www.peliproducts.co.uk.
