Apollo contract renewed

by Mark Rowe

Showsec has extended one of the longest associations in the Leicester-based company’s history after securing a new contract with the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith.

The crowd management and security contract firm has been working at the west London venue – formerly known as the Hammersmith Apollo – for three decades and this will now continue for a further three years.

An agreement has been reached with the joint partnership of AEG Live and CTS Eventim. Showsec covers an average of 180 events annually staged at the Apollo.

Steve Reynolds, Showsec’s Regional Manager for the South, said: “This contract strengthens our relationship with AEG following the recent success of our tender to take over the front-of-house operation at Wembley Arena. Like Wembley Arena, the Eventim Apollo has long been established as one of the major entertainment venues in the capital. We have enjoyed a long association with the Apollo, one of the longest in our history, and we are delighted that this will continue.”

He added: “In the tender process, we scored particularly highly on our innovative reporting systems and commitment to training. That is a reflection of the excellent work which has been done by Dayo Adelugba and Simon Howard in heading up our team, one which regularly provides 30 staff for the events which are held at the Apollo throughout the year.”

About the Eventim Apollo

The Eventim Apollo, which opened in 1932, is not only an entertainment venue, but a Grade II* listed building. A new look and new name was unveiled last year after a multi-million pound spend from by AEG Live and CTS Interim. This followed refurbishment which restored many stunning features of historical significance and upgraded facilities. Recently Kate Bush announced that she will hold a series of 22 comeback concerts at the venue in August and September.
