Based near Atherstone in Leicestershire, Twycross Zoo has purchased the CLIQ Remote locking product from ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY.
The Leicester-based installer Rossells Locksmiths worked with the site development team at the zoo to explore a key management solution. ASSA’s CLIQ Remote system was selected and installed on the gibbon habitat, providing what the firms call an intelligent electromechanical locking system for security and access.
The CLIQ Remote system allows only those with the necessary authority and training to obtain access to animal enclosures. ASSA says that its product has the functionality to create time-defined user keys, allowing access for a specified time. This is a useful feature for vets and zookeepers who may need to access the enclosures outside normal opening hours, the physical security product firm adds.
Chris Bowles, Director at Rossells Locksmiths, said: “We installed ASSA’s CLIQ cylinders at Twycross Zoo to upgrade the zoo’s previous masterkey suite, ASSA’s CLIQ Remote system has allowed the zoo to operate more efficiently.”
Claire Oldham, Director of Discovery and Learning at the zoo, said: “We were looking for a modern key management system. ASSA’s CLIQ Remote solution enables us to have secure control over our keys. We have plans to install ASSA’s CLIQ solution across the whole zoo, as we redevelop the site.”
