The British manufacturer and designer of external detector equipment, GJD, is launching its new IP connected Laser-Watch surveillance sensor at this year’s IFSEC. The Laser-watch is the newest addition to the company’s IP and digital range.
The Laser-Watch is described by the firm as a sensor for detecting objects and humans at long distances. The product can be used without the need for light, reflectors or separate transmitters and receivers that are used by other systems, it’s claimed. The company says that applications include police stakeout operations and other temporary perimeter security systems including at harbours, airports and freight terminals.
The Laser-Watch reaches distances up to 500 metres and works with a web-based user interface, enabling the user to remotely change detection settings at any time from anywhere. The product features 20 fully adjustable alarm zones with individual sensitivity settings and alarm actions. Mark Tibbenham, Managing Director at GJD said: “The new Laser-Watch is an industry leading technology that will deliver utmost precision, regardless of lighting or weather conditions for a wide range of sectors.”
Typical applications include perimeter control as the sensor can detect all objects crossing a virtual fence, which is especially useful when a physical fence is not desirable, the makers say. The product offers spot surveillance in a specific area for example a specific part of a road, an entrance to a house or along a wall. The sensor can also be used to detect if an object moves, as it can be located anywhere with a clear line of sight to the object.
Not only does the sensor detect an intrusion, it also knows the precise position of an object or a person. The Laser-Watch offers a near zero false alarm rate, whilst increasing the number of genuine detections, according to the firm.
The sensor in a heavy duty weather-proof design is powered with Power over Ethernet and can be used as a stand-alone unit or as part of a system with multiple IP surveillance sensors and IP cameras connected to a server.
