Personal safety bracelet

by Mark Rowe

The PFO Shield is a new personal safety bracelet, described as wearable GPS technology for lone workers, from Swedish firm PFO Tech.

When triggered, the bracelet sends an alarm to designated groups or individuals with the wearer’s live location. The new bracelet uses both American GPS and Russian GLONASS.

Johan Carlsson, CEO of PFO Tech, said: “The new bracelet is a direct response to the feedback of hundreds of companies in need of our technology to safeguard their staff or associates. Physically, it’s smaller, softer and more ergonomic, while behind the scenes we’ve released a more user-friendly interface. We’ve implemented three new features, one being the high security Stealth mode developed for Civil Rights Defenders. And for more everyday use we’ve added I’m here! and Where are you? for non-urgent positioning. All factors to appeal to both men and women of all ages and in all industries.”

PFO Tech was founded in 2009. In 2013, PFO Tech developed the technology behind the Natalia Project, whose bracelets were configured to alarm the Civil Rights Defenders headquarters in Stockholm, as well as send out an alert on social media platforms, notifying everyone in real time of an attack.
