Panic hardware range

by Mark Rowe

The security manufacturer Allegion is launching its upgraded outside access devices (OADs) by Briton.

Features include return-to-door lever handles, anti-vandal design and compliance with the British Standard BS 8300. The makers say that the product is for buildings in a range of sectors, such as commercial, education, healthcare and transport, because of the means they provide for allowing access through emergency exit doors from the outside without compromising building security.

The firm says that the range now offers enhanced security with its key retention option, which can be configured to prevent the door from being left unlocked. Damage to the mechanism is also prevented by the clutching device, should the lever be forcibly abused.

Veeru Harrad, UK product manager at Allegion, said, “Our new range of outside access devices provides a secure and compliant set of products that are perfect for any entry necessary within public buildings. We continue to update our products to ensure we not only meet all compliance regulations, but that we delight our customers and those that use our products once they’re installed.”

The new upgraded OAD will retrofit with existing 1413E models, without leaving any holes behind, and require little maintenance it is claimed over its lifetime.

The new devices are suitable according to the manufacturers for single and double doors, when fitted to the first opening leaf of a pair. They can be self-handed or site reversible, and they are supplied with a euro profile standard differ cylinder (cylinders can be keyed alike or master keyed). The products are suitable the firm adds for doors between 40mm and 100mm thick and are fully compatible with Briton 560, 570 and 376 Series devices.
