The mailroom product company Totalpost Services Plc launched its new range of Astrophysics x-ray threat detection equipment at the UK’s Security and Policing exhibition, in Farnborough. The company is the sole UK distributor of the Astrophysics range. The XIS series will be exhibited at Totalpost’s stand D56 at the Counter Terror Expo on 25 and 26 April at Olympia in London.
The x-ray screening product detects threats in mail, parcels, freight and baggage. Totalpost reports interest from police forces, prisons and other Home Office and the military. Another major developing interest are freight forwarders, due to the latest legislative requirements for airfreight screening. After the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007, the US Transportation Security Administration executed new security measures last summer requiring 100 per cent airfreight screening on both domestic and inbound US passenger planes.
Totalpost Managing Director David Hymers says: “As all air freight into the USA now must be screened by the airlines or freight forwarders there is a real demand for high-level products that offer the most thorough screening process at a very competitive price. The exhibition was a huge success. The new range of Astrophysics x-ray machines attracted a great deal of interest as the technology is becoming known throughout the industry for its sophistication and ability to enable an operator to make better qualified judgements when detecting potential threats. We’re very excited to bring such an extraordinary range of equipment into the UK market backed up by support from our nationwide service department.”
