Intrusion detection system

by Mark Rowe

At the INTERSEC show, OPTEX, the intrusion detection product manufacturer, will be showcasing its perimeter security products at Hall 2, Stand S2-719C. Previewed will be the REDSCAN Auto-tracking and view stitching application and on display will be the additions to the iSeries, the wire-free perimeter and building security system and REDSCAN laser sensor series with its new intelligent features.

OPTEX will be previewing the REDSCAN Auto-tracking application that tracks automatically multiple individuals or targets across detection zones, hence across multiple cameras and sensors with view stitching. This new application works with IP video software company Milestone Systems’ XProtect Video Management Systems, OPTEX REDSCAN laser sensors and absolute positioning PTZ cameras. The targets will be followed according to their GPS coordinates and if more than one target is to be tracked, the system will zoom out and follow the centre point of the group to give security staff visual awareness of the scene. The application can also ‘stitch’ the detection areas of the laser sensors and the associated cameras enabling the tracking to carry on from one area to the other, automatically following intruders in their journey across the site or inside a building.

The OPTEX iSeries provides wire-free sensors, ideal to secure areas where cabled systems could be too costly or too disruptive to install. For perimeter security, the SL-350QFRi active wireless infrared beams features 100m detection range, quad beam technology and a triple tamper function; they can be stacked in towers. For gate and building security, the VX Infinity (VXI) series offers six models of battery powered detectors with 12m and 90 degrees detection coverage and small animal tolerance. Some models feature dual technology (PIR/MW) for increased stability in challenging uses.

Visitors will also be able to see the REDSCAN, OPTEX Intelligent laser sensor, which has its new firmware version including loitering detection, day/night settings, flexible area masking and independent detection areas. The REDSCAN sensor, as well as the rest of the IP portfolio, is integrated with a list of Video Management Platforms including Axxonsoft, Axis, Dedicated Micro, ExacqVision, Genetec and Milestone.
