GAI head office

by Mark Rowe

The Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) has made three new appointments to its head office. Angie Corkhill, pictured, is the new director, coming to the GAI with over 15 years’ experience in executive responsibility within the professional and educational sector in London, Singapore and Sydney.

Her most recent role was as director of member relations and digital at Finsia (Financial Services Institute of Australasia) where she was responsible for the development and delivery of the digital strategy to retain members and to enhance their membership experience. This role also involved creating relationships with other international organisations to maintain a high level profile.

Earlier, she had roles as director of member services and policy, director of transformation and projects, and as regional manager in Asia Pacific at CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants).

Angie says: “The Guild already has a strong global presence, particularly in the GCC and Asia. I’m looking forward to taking these relationships to the next level, expanding the already excellent education programme and promoting the technical support we are offering our members.”

Keiron Lewis has been appointed as the GAI’s marketing manager. He joins the GAI with a wealth of experience in both B2C and B2B companies including Domino’s Pizza and Cadbury. These roles involved designing advertising material and creating marketing plans to help position the brands within the expanding market. He has attended multiple course held by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and has a BA (Hons) Advertising and Media from Coventry University.

One of Keiron’s earliest duties will be to organise the GAI Education Awards on November 9, that recognises the educational achievements of the architectural ironmongery industry.

The Guild and Institute members will be well supported by Abigail Wong, the Guild’s new education membership administrator. Abigail has experience in implementing and coordinating office procedures and ensuring the highest quality customer service for clients and members. In her previous role at the Venn Group, Abigail worked in the team administrator service department, with responsibility for more than 340 members of staff and providing support to directors of the company.

David Stacey, president of the GAI, said: “When I began my presidency in May this year, the first task was to recruit the right people to support the already excellent head office team of Douglas Masterson, Rachel Tipton and Davina King. I’m glad that we’ve found Angie, Keiron and Abby who can help us take the Guild and the Institute to the next level, continuing to support and develop the UK and our growing membership overseas, particularly in the face of an increasingly globalised construction regulations environment.”
