Fog machine firm seeks UK partner

by Mark Rowe

The Danish company PROTECT A/S is seeking a partner for developing its security fog machine sales further in the UK. The company’s products are sold in the UK through its own sales department at PROTECT Fog Cannon Ltd, a sub-distributor, and alarm installers such as Kings Security Systems, SGS Systems and Chubb.

The parent company in Denmark, PROTECT says it’s seeking an independent partner to run the UK market.

CEO Heine Michael Andreasen says: “We want to align the way we go to the market throughout the whole world which is independent partnerships. The business model that PROTECT has been practising since the very first day has proven very worthwhile.

“Therefore, PROTECT A/S now seeks an independent partner to sell and distribute PROTECT Fog Cannons in the UK. The new partner will continue to maintain the close ties with our sub-distributor and all the certified alarm installers selling, mounting and servicing PROTECT Fog Cannons, and even improve the collaboration between us.

“The market for security fog machines in the UK has a great potential, especially in the retail and banking sector. We are looking forward to achieving even more market shares with our new partner in the future.”

About the firm

PROTECT A/S’s PROTECT Fog Cannons are sold by independent partners in more than 50 countries, and the end users include retailers such as Tesco and Sainsbury’s, and the Post Office, SPAR and 7-Eleven.

Fog Cannons are installed with conventional security alarms. When the alarm is activated, the room fills with fog to deter the burglar from entering. If the burglar is inside the room when the fog is discharged, it is impossible for the burglar to see and locate valuables to steal.

PROTECT was established in 2001 and since 2017 has been solely owned by the Danish investment company Genua A/S.

While PROTECT has a partnership agreement with the majority of alarm installers in Denmark – about 420 installers – some 90 per cent of the company’s production of Fog Cannon machines are for export. There are six basic models: FOQUS, Xtratus, Xtratus Flex, QUMULUS, 600i, 1100i and 2200i, for rooms of different sizes. The product range also includes PROTECT Security Strobe – a stroboscopic lamp which reinforces the effect of the fog, plus PROTECT Security Sounder; a siren with a deafening effect.
