Export look

by Mark Rowe

Jacksons, the UK-based perimeter security and access control business, is starting 2013 with an emphasis on its export offering. The company has witnessed a 22 per cent increase in export sales since 2010 and plans to extend its marketing focus to concentrate on further developing this side of the business.

Jacksons will be working with UKTI (UK Trade and Investment) to identify new export opportunities and improve awareness of the company’s steel and timber products, whilst also promoting its ability to deliver bespoke solutions. After the company’s 65th anniversary celebrations last year, Jacksons seeks to exploit interest from overseas customers.

CEO Richard Jackson, pictured, says: “We first started exporting our products back in 2000 but I would have to say that the majority of our sales are through loyal customers who’ve been so impressed by the quality and durability of our products that they regularly generate repeat business. Our standing as a British designer and manufacturer with a proven track record and recognized heritage has served us well but we have to date, done very little in terms of marketing activity dedicated to improving export sales – apart from the development of a French web site and brochure. Our current export client base spans a broad cross section of markets including Africa, France, Australia, Turkestan and Kazakhstan. With a renewed impetus to expand our business, this time next year, we are confident that we will have increased our export sales by 15 per cent.”

Export sales in 2010 generated £1.93M, export sales in 2012 generated £2.356M
