Door leaf design

by Mark Rowe

ASSA ABLOY Security Doors has re-engineered its standard door leaf design.

SMARTform enables the leaf to be formed with the same square or rebated edges found on the company’s Powershield doors, while structurally having a full interlocking seam on all edges of the leaf. The makers say this reduces material waste, decreases welding, eliminates unwanted dust pollution and improves the appearance of the product. Neil Chambers, Production Manager at ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, said: “We have recently made a significant investment in a new manufacturing process, introducing new machinery and utilising modern production methods. This has enabled our engineers to design and produce a high quality, fit for purpose product more efficiently, while reducing environmental impact.

“Our new SMARTform technology ensures we remain globally competitive, supports our need for increased capacity and offers our customers a superior product.”

Through reduction of waste, energy consumption and pollution, ASSA ABLOY says that its new Powershield door is an example of how sustainability is embedded in the design, manufacturing and logistic elements of ASSA ABLOY Security Doors’ value chain. Visit http://www.assaabloy.co.uk/Security-Doors.
