Physical Security

Door hardware at MLA Expo

by Mark Rowe

UNION, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, the physical security and door product company, will be among the exhibitors at this year’s Master Locksmith Association (MLA) Expo, at Telford’s International Centre from October 6 to 8.

FastLatch is a new range of push fit tubular latches and privacy bolts that can be installed on interior doors, three times faster than a traditional latch, according to the product manufacturer. They come in a choice of three finishes – polished chrome, polished brass and satin nickel. RetroV is for those looking to update old or tired door closers, such as the Briton 2003, 2003V and 2004 ranges. RetroV does not require drilling to install, saving time and effort whilst still maintaining the fire door certification, the makers say.

DoorSense, pictured, is a battery-operated stand-alone system that allows fire doors to remain open for access and automatically close during alarms. With no electrical wiring required, DoorSense’s acoustic technology can be retrofitted in place of older door hold-open devices. It can also be released manually or automatically via alarm or built-in night closing timer.

Paul Johnson, Commercial Director for ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, said: “The MLA Expo is an important event in any locksmith’s calendar, and one we have attended for many years now. This year’s exhibition offers the first opportunity, for the industry to see our new UNION keyPRIME patented cylinder system, as well as our other latest door hardware products.”
