Detection range

by Mark Rowe

Garrett Metal Detectors, a US-based manufacturer of security, hobby and countermine metal detection products, showed its latest security detection products at the Security & Counter Terror Expo in April 2016, at Olympia, London.

The company’s Portable Walkthrough Solution bundles its PD-6500i walk-through metal detector with rugged steel casters and a battery backup module to create what the makers call a fully mobile security checkpoint. It’s suitable the firm says for stadiums and special events use. Garrett’s PD-6500i meets test certifications (including TSA and European Airports requirements).

Henry Tellez, Vice President of International Sales, said: “With our Portable Walkthrough Solution, Garrett’s PD-6500i detectors can be moved to a secure location when not in use. This provides an unimpeded exit at the close of an event and the detect or can be easily moved by one person. Our mobile solution is designed for special events and large venues where the security personnel need fast, easy, versatile security screening.”

The PD-6500i walk-through metal detector has been in use at recent Olympic Games, World Cup events, the Pan-American Games, and at numerous professional and collegiate sporting venues. Garrett Metal Detectors, founded in 1964, is based in Garland, Texas.
