SBD Senior Development Officer Kenny McHugh said: “It has been a pleasure to re-sign Dessian with Secured by Design, they are a quality manufacturer who continue to show their commitment to safety and security and I am looking forward to working with them in the future.”
Stephen Thurley, pictured, Production Manager at Dessian said: “We are delighted to have renewed our Secured by Design accreditation. Our windows and doors are subjected to vigorous testing before being allowed to carry the SBD logo, showing our commitment to fabricating products that meet the highest standards of security.”
A police-owned organisation, it works on behalf of UK police Service to deliver a range of crime prevention and demand reduction initiatives. SBD plays a significant crime prevention role in the planning process to design out crime in a wide range of building sectors. One million homes have been built to SBD standards. SBD have partner organisations, from the Home Office, Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government and the police to local authorities, housing associations, developers and manufacturers and work with standards and certification bodies to ensure that their publicly available standards actually meet needs of police and public.
Products must be subjected to testing and auditing by an accredited third party organisation before being allowed to carry the SBD logo – this is the only way for companies to obtain police accreditation for security related products in the UK.
