CPD approval for door hardware

by Mark Rowe

Allegion has achieved RIBA approval for one of its Continuous Professional Development (CPD) seminars. The CPD seminar titled ‘Door Hardware and Inclusive Design’ has been assessed and approved as conforming to guidelines set by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and has become part of its Core Curriculum.

The CPD seminar is designed to keep industry up-to-date with the issues in architectural hardware specification. Topics covered include understanding how Part M and BS8300 affect specifiers and end-users, as well as hardware life cycle and the ongoing cost implications to the client or end-user.

Chartered members of RIBA are required to do 35 hours of CPD training per year, of which a minimum of 20 must be from the Core Curriculum. The Allegion course is 60 minutes in duration so meets one hour of this training requirement, and covers many of the technical considerations involved in door hardware specification.

The sessions are available for all registered professionals and follow the launch of inspec – the new guide from Allegion which enables specifiers and architects to seek complete building solutions through products designed to work together, from one provider.

Paul Barrows, Demand Creation Leader at Allegion, said: “The new CPD seminar marks our commitment to helping architects meet the demands of specifying a range of products for entire commercial buildings and wider infrastructure. It is a privilege working with such a renowned industry body such as RIBA to bring the course to individuals and businesses across the UK.”
