USB transceivers

by msecadm4921

A new series of USB 2.0 transceivers is available from American Fibertek Inc. The USB 2.0 Series allows any USB 2.0 device to be transmitted through a fibre cable network and meet longer distance requirements, the makers say.  These distances will certify transmission of up to one kilometre on a multimode fiber and up to ten kilometres on a single mode fibre.

Jack Fernandes, President and CEO of the IP video and fiber optic transmission product company says: “This new product line expands upon AFI’s end-to-end transmission solutions. From a design perspective, it enables a longer reach and a greater use of system resources.”

The AFI USB 2.0 Series provides installers with a way of incorporating USB devices into a video system. The system is available in module format for field use or rack card for control rooms and is compatible with multimode or single mode optics.

USB 2.0 specifications allow for faster transmission speeds. As PCs and peripheral devices have added more processing bandwidth, performance and features, the USB 2.0 standard was developed to offer a complementary high-speed transfer rate at 480Mb/s. Backwards compatible with the full speed and low speed transfer rates of USB 1.1, USB 2.0 delivers the US firm says a significant bandwidth increase while maintaining the value added features that motivated the original USB development. For more information and free software demonstration downloads, visit AFI’s website at www.americanfibertek.com
