Speed dome

by Mark Rowe

Newly launched by the Taiwanese company VIVOTEK, its speed dome network camera SD8363E.

Its features include its frame rate, weatherproofing, IP66- and NEMA 4X-rated housing, and WDR Pro. SD8363E offers 360 degree continuous pan and 220 degrees extended tilt range, which the makers say eliminate dead angles while zooming in, and provides extra coverage with improved viewing angles. The dome is said to be suitable for monitoring open indoor and outdoor spaces as airports, ports, stadiums, highways and parking lots.

Featuring WDR Pro and a removable IR-cut filter, SD8363E is capable of coping with challenging lighting and generating image quality close to the capabilities of the human eyes around the clock, the makers say. With real-time H.264, MPEG-4 and MJPEG compression technology, video quality with resolution up to 30 frames per second (fps) at 1080p is secured while conserving network bandwidth.

For operation under harsh site conditions, the IP66 rating and weatherproofing protect the camera against rain and dust within a temperature range of between minus 40 degrees C to 55 degrees C. With the NEMA 4X-rated housing, corrosion and ice formation on the enclosure can be avoided. The new electronic dehumidifier component can also be used to precisely control the humidity inside the closure in accordance with the ambient environment.

Steve Ma, VIVOTEK’s Executive VP, said: “We are pleased to announce the official launch of our next generation speed dome SD8363E. With our experience in professional surveillance technology, and by listening carefully to the market, we have responded to the market’s demand for a speed dome with cutting-edge features. VIVOTEK is proud to have successfully developed the SD8363E to fulfill our customers’ needs to demanding, high-end surveillance applications.”
