Jewellery store install

by Mark Rowe

Hikvision, the Chinese supplier of video surveillance equipment, has installed an IP system at a Saudi Arabian jewellery store. Okaz International oversaw the installation of 75 cameras and six 32 channel network recorders (NVRs) at the Al Fitaihi Holding Group’s store in Jeddah.

The ‘Fitaihi Center Jeddah’ is the company’s leading retail outlet, at the heart of the city’s commercial district. It houses the company’s main jewellery department with its most valuable pieces on display. A security system had to minimise the risk of theft yet also had to be discreet, to blend in with the surroundings.

Mr Mohan, the executive manager of Okaz International, says: “Although our client completely understood the importance of investing in technologically advanced, high quality CCTV equipment, one of their major considerations was the absolute necessity of ensuring that the CCTV cameras were as unobtrusive as possible, complemented the existing prestige décor, and could be installed with as little disruption as possible.”

Installed were 75 Hikvision 3 megapixel DS-2CD754F-E(I)(Z) 1080p full-HD indoor domes, each with Hikvision’s DS-1227ZJ in-ceiling mount to minimise their impact on the decoration. The 75 IP cameras are linked to a central control room with six DS-9632NI-RT NVRs.

Mr Mohan said: “This first collaboration between the Al Fitaihi Group, Okaz International and Hikvision, has been a great success and a large part of this is due to the very high quality of the Hikvision products. It is fitting that Al Fitaihi’s exceptionally valuable jewellery is being watched over and protected by some of the world’s most advanced technology. Having secured Al Fitaihi’s most prominent store in Saudi Arabia, we are already evaluating other opportunities to place Hikvision products in their branch stores as well.”
