Iranian factory case study

by Mark Rowe

A factory case study of Foladin Company in Amoul city, close to the Caspian Sea in northern Iran, not far from the capital city Tehran. Foladin makes iron products.

Their facilities include offices and factory buildings, and car parking. Foladin sought an IP surveillance solution to monitor the production process inside the plant as well as all activity on the premises. The products used were from VIVOTEK, from distributor Pooya Fara Negar (PFN) . Foladin also evaluated products from other surveillance brands.

By April 2014, the products were deployed; more than 200 VIVOTEK cameras. Included were two of the Taiwanese network video product firm’s mini fixed dome cameras, FD8136 and FD8166. They offer selectable focal lengths, high viewing resolution, and 1- and 2-megapixel CMOS sensors respectively. Three other models were installed outdoors and in the car parking areas: the IP8332-C, FD8137HV, and SD8362E. The SD8362E camera comes with a tamper detection function, meaning that an alarm will be triggered if anyone attempts to block, redirect, defocus, or spray-paint the camera. The cameras have weather- and vandal-proof housings, WDR and removable IR-cut filters for all lighting conditions. Built-in IR illuminators on the FD8137HV are for night visibility, and the camera is capable of handling diverse lighting day and night, the makers add.

William Ku, VIVOTEK’s spokesperson and vice president of the International Business Division, said: “With over 200 cameras in place, the manufacturing site at Foladin is immensely secure, and the models with which we outfitted the premises provide surveillance that is second to none. Whether inside the buildings or outside on the grounds, ease of video control and analysis mean that our solution has brought a level of security to the company that both operators and employees can feel confident in.”
