IP telecom forum

by Mark Rowe

The Europe-wide transition of traditional (PSTN) telecom networks towards all-IP communications networks is in different stages, and is having an impact on alarm signalling systems across European countries. At the Swiss-based trade body Euralarm, its Task Group Next Generation Networks (NGN) is covering this. Euralarm members BSIA and FIA are hosting a forum on how changes to the UK telecommunications network may affect the UK fire and security industry. The event on March 15 at UBM, in central London, will look at the impact of the transition.

The Euralarm Task Group NGN will also organise a workshop before the conference; on March 14, on NGN progress across Europe. The group will also consider what guidance and direction will be of value to industry members and their customers.

Euralarm members and other stakeholders and interested parties are invited to participate in the Open forum or workshop (Euralarm members only). More details of the TG NGN workshop can soon be found on the Euralarm website. Info on the Open forum event will be available via the website of Euralarm’s British member BSIA.
