IP cameras with built-in IR

by Mark Rowe

Vista’s latest range of IP Infrared cameras are designed to capture video in zero light, even if the network fails. The VK2-1080BIR range, pictured, part of Vista’s VIP2 family, offers true day/night operation with clear images up to 15m at night thanks to the built in IR illumination. Options include fixed lens and remote set up lens models.

The integrated SD card slot allows for local recording on the camera itself which, as well as acting as a fail-safe in case of network failure, could remove the need for extra recording equipment such as NVRs.

With a 2MP/1080p resolution, the cameras can utilise power over Ethernet (PoE), allowing for installation over a single CAT5 cable. As the network can provide the power for the camera, no local power is required.

The VK2-1080BIR range is compatible with all of Vista’s IP control software and NVRs, including VK2 client, Graphica2 and Sabre. All the cameras are also supported by third party systems such as Mirasys, Milestone and NUUO.

Mark Pritchard, director of product marketing for UCP, says: “This is Vista’s first range of IP cameras with built-in IR illumination. They offer exceptional image quality over three separate IP streams, all delivered up to full HD 1080p resolution. Thanks to their small size and great aesthetics, they’re ideal for installations where a modern, stylish look is required.”
