Vacant property protection

by Mark Rowe

Keep out the Gremlins (and thieves and vandals) this Christmas from your building site or vacant property, say the contractors VPS and G4S. The firms report that they are working together to provide deployment to meet all those pre-Christmas security requirements.

With the holiday period fast approaching, there’s still time – just – to either introduce or top up security on your site. The festive period in the UK traditionally sees a significant rise in crime, with high-value plant, equipment, fuel and materials often left unattended on building sites during the closedown.

The firms say that 92pc construction sites experience theft regularly, and VPS’ own survey to its customers indicate that on a regular week over one in five sites experience theft or vandalism. VPS and G4S offer property managers a security solution through the use of G4S’ nationwide monitoring solutions and VPS’ wireless Smart Alarms and JCB Smart Tower range, pictured.
