SMC signs Armed Forces Covenant

by Mark Rowe

Security Monitoring Centres Limited (SMC) based in Nottingham has signed the Armed Forces Covenant. That’s a promise that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly. By signing the covenant, SMC pledges to be an Armed Forces-friendly organisation. SMC is a part of Carrier, the heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, fire, security and building automation technology firm.

SMC says it offers flexible working arrangements to those who have served their country, relatives of those serving, or those who might be reservists who need time away to fulfil their military obligations. When an individual leaves the armed forces, SMC will assist potential recruits’ transition into civilian life.

The Armed Forces Covenant aims to support military spouses with their job-seeking through The Army Families Federation, in conjunction with the Naval and RAF Families’ Federations, which have come together to create ‘Forces Families Jobs’, a ‘one stop shop’ where spouses and family members of UK Armed Forces military personnel can apply for jobs directly with employers who have signed the Armed Forces Covenant.

Colin Walters, managing director of SMC said: “SMC welcomes this opportunity, which is only available to those who have signed the Armed Forces Covenant. We are able to promote our organisation, advertise job vacancies and access a large, highly skilled candidate database of working Armed Forces family members from the Services.”
