Site radar

by Mark Rowe

Hikvision has launched Security Radar.

It’s offers the location and motion trail of up to 32 potential intruders per radar, even in harsh weather the developers say. It’s for monitoring large spaces such as ports and airports. As the firm says, traditional cameras or motion detectors such as active infrared and video motion detection can have limits in pinpointing the exact location of a potential intruder related to their detection area at long perimeters. Hikvision say their radar can offer accurate detection over a wide angle of 100 degrees, and up to a distance of 60m. The product uses digital beam-forming and intelligent analysis algorithms to accurately detect all target movements in all weather, keeping false alarms to a minimum. The radar can also link with as many as four Hikvision pan and tilt dome cameras at once, for triggering an alarm when an intruder is detected, and to trigger video recording. The cameras and the radar can be installed in different places.

The product has multiple scene modes, making it suitable for a variety of applications. Shrub Mode, for instance, is for areas surrounded by forest, as it will filter out false alarms such as shaking trees or heavy rain. Open-Area Mode is for large, open, sensitive locations such as ports. And the Custom Mode enables users to fine-tune settings to suit.

The radar works with a variety of brackets, such as Bullet-PTZ brackets, for installation. It also supports Power over Ethernet (PoE).

Jiang Feng Zhi, Head of Hikvision’s alarms division says, “We are excited to bring our cutting-edge Security Radar solution to the market, and in such an innovative way. We hope that being able to accurately detect tens of intruders at once, day or night, and in all weather conditions, will bring incredible value to a whole variety of organisations globally.”
