Radar at TRAFFEX show

by Mark Rowe

Among the exhibitors at the TRAFFEX Show at the NEC in Birmingham, from April 21 to 23 are Navtech Radar. The manufacturer of radar-based Automatic Incident Detection (AID) for traffic management applications is teaming up with Business Partner P Ducker Systems (PDS) to showcase their CTS350 radar.

The CTS350 is small, lighter than previous models, the makers say. The new CTS product launched in 2014, followed after Navtech’s announcement of the company securing a four year Framework contract with Trafikverket in Sweden – the Scandinavian country’s transport administration. Navtech Radar’s AID solution, using CTS350, is to be deployed for all lanes running on strategic road stretches with no hard shoulder, around the country.

Ryan Hood, Sales & Marketing Director of Navtech Radar says: “Our Radar based AID solution has now been adopted as a de facto standard in many places. Several of the AID projects our technology is implemented on include all lanes running on strategic roads, with no hard shoulder, so fast and accurate detection is a must. ClearWay gives very low numbers of false alarms – typically one per 1 km per 24 hours. It is further widely used in geographical regions where inclement weather – rain, fog, snow, sand and dust is common. There simply are not other technologies which would be effective for this kind of application.”

Some of the most recent projects completed using Navtech’s ClearWay AID includes stretches on strategic roads in Sweden, Mastrafjord and Byfjord subsea tunnels in Norway, and Bolte Bridge in Melbourne, Australia. Several trials are ongoing both in the UK and abroad for all lane running and tunnel AID.

Navtech will be exhibiting at TRAFFEX on the P Ducker Systems (PDS) Stand F10 (Hall 5). To organise a meeting with Navtech Radar at TRAFFEX in advance of the show, email: [email protected].
