Lone worker protection agreement

by Mark Rowe

The west country security firm Securi-Guard reports a new business partnership with a Canadian manufacturer of lone worker protection devices recently introduced into the UK.

Plymouth-based Securi-Guard has become sole UK monitoring provider for Blackline GPS Europe and will provide 24/7 responses to alerts generated by the devices. The firms say that the services are aimed at employees such as some council staff, utility workers, healthcare, bailiffs, debt collectors and court enforcement officers.

The devices use Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) to give a location of the worker and feature a panic button if they are in danger of attack or injure themselves working in remote locations, besides man down, no motion, silent (discrete) and check-in alarm features. Securi-Guard will also provide advice, support and monitoring solutions for Blackline across Europe via its Securi-Track service.

Launched in 2011 Securi-Track offers international incident management for vehicle and asset tracking by working with approved security firms across Europe to provide what is termed a European Police Response Service to vehicle theft and hijacking. Now the same platform will be used to support monitoring of Blackline GPS Europe’s range of Lone Worker Protection devices.

Gavin Boorman, Managing Director of Blackline GPS Europe – based in Essex – said: “Having met with several monitoring providers we chose Securi-Guard as our sole UK monitoring provider because they demonstrated the best ability to work with Blackline GPS. We needed a comprehensive and robust 24/7 monitoring capability for both the UK and Europe, but what particularly impressed us was Securi-Guard’s ability to provide changing response protocols that fall within the standards required.”

Pete Stanley, pictured, Head of Telematics at Securi-Guard said that Blackline demonstrated its capability to meet the demands of the UK market by offering alternative solutions using a different approach. “Securi-Guard is always looking for companies that have a proven track record in providing solutions and support services and Blackline GPS Europe certainly fitted the criteria,” said Pete.

Background

Securi-Guard offers National Security Inspectorate (NSI) BS8484 Gold accredited Lone Worker Services, one of five NSI Gold awards the company holds for its fire and security services. Pete Stanley is also a committee member of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) Lone Worker Section, which is helping to raise the profile of importance of lone worker protection.
