ISM at Intersec

by Mark Rowe

Intergrated Security Manufacturing (ISM), a manufacturer of PSIM software, is to show the latest version of its Genesys security management system (SMS) at Intersec in Dubai next month. ISM is exhibiting its Genesys v2 enterprise product, suitable the company says for larger system installations, in Hall S1, Stand S1-B52.

Steve Smith, Managing Director of ISM, says that the business continues to invest significantly in technology and R&D, and is expanding the use and application of Genesys into new markets: ““We will be consolidating our growth in the Middle East, expanding our reach into new vertical sectors including casinos, custody, utilities, critical infrastructure, embassies and data centres. Genesys is fully scaleable to ‘flex’ in line with a client’s needs.”

According to the makers, Genesys allows the integration of multiple systems from multiple manufacturers – all from one integrated security system. Every electronic security or fire safety device from CCTV and Intruder Alarms to Electronic Locking and Public Address can be monitored and controlled from a single platform.

It features Migrating 3+, patented automatic fail-over that adds automatic configurable redundancy and power, the company says. Control is effectively distributed across multiple workstations: “We take power to your PC and multiple it by the number of PCs on your network,” Steve says.

“What this means is that if one PC fails, control is migrated to another PC seamlessly, with no interruption or downtime. Our system is therefore not restricted in its performance by the size or capability of a server, nor does it require the expense of moving to server farms or utilising clustering software.”

Genesys is described as a ‘true’ PSIM system built around intuitive software that offers 3-D modeling and an event management database. Events and alarms are presented to the operator as and when they happen. The PSIM software operates as a standalone platform over LAN or WAN networks for remote and local sites with workstations that can be transferred to any operating security control room on the network. This offers the user flexibility when closing down sites or buildings for off-peak or out of normal working hours or in the unlikely event of any system failures, the makers add.
