IP intercom

by Mark Rowe

Corps Security wanted to upgrade security at the entrance to its London offices, with intercom over Internet Protocol (IP).

Castel has been producing communication and access control technology since the 1970s, with its main emphasis on IP since 2004. The new system reroutes calls to the reception area after business hours or, if the phone is unanswered, directs all communication to Corps Security’s remote monitoring centre near Glasgow, pictured.

Darren Elvin, Managing Director of ICL Solutions, the installation contractor, says: “ICL and Corps Security chose the Castel solution because of the simplicity of installation (PoE) and programming,” he said. “Castel has a good reputation for providing a fast turnaround and even preconfigured the solution for us, saving us a huge amount of time on site.” The makers add that by using its own remote monitoring centre, Corps also reduces running costs.
