AXIS Site Designer is a free web application from Axis Communications, the network video product manufacturer, for the specification and design of security systems. Two installers and Axis partners, Southern Fire and Security and Acctive Systems, say that using it they have won clients as a result.
As physical security technology continues to advance to keep up with ever-evolving threats, besides security devices and sensors being added to IT networks, the task of specifying such systems has become more complex, says Axis. Those working in the industry have to show to buyers the capabilities of such devices and show how products can work together to secure a site. Hence this web application.
AXIS Site Designer allows a solution to be mapped out in detail. The tool removes guesswork or trial and error, in creating a system to fit operational requirements. The application allows floorplans of the target site to be added, and virtual placement of cameras and devices enables viewing of the coverage they will provide once installed.

Southern Fire and Security has recently taken on the specification of security and surveillance systems for several high value properties around the London area, so being able to specify dedicated solutions is critical. Acctive Systems, as an integrator of electronic security systems, needed a method of specifying security systems that would allow it to show an entire setup and component parts via digital means.
