At InnoTrans 2016, at Messe Berlin (September 20–23), Synectics are among the exhibitors, at its stand (hall 4.1, booth 310). The firm is offering walk-throughs of situations and scenarios using its Synergy 3 command and control platform.
Jürgen Fuchs, Director of Strategic Projects at Synectics, said: “Germany in particular has seen a series of new and worrying threat scenarios on public transport in the past year. The current installed systems, which are individually monitored and managed are too disjointed. This causes challenges when a quick and coordinated response is required during incidents. Operators are now looking for systems that allow them to identify and respond to these situations more effectively in order to better protect passengers and staff from harm.
“Synergy 3’s open architecture facilitates a wide range of sub-system integrations in order to deliver a ‘complete picture’ of events, while features such as dynamic workflows – programmed to guide operators through appropriate actions on detection of specific events – ensure real-time response and reporting procedures that comply with specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
“Importantly, as connectivity improves, this type of approach can and will unite on-vehicle and transport hub surveillance. For example, distress-signals from a train or bus can already trigger the transmission and prioritization of video images to a station control room, alongside relevant vehicle journey data.”
Earlier this year Synectics announced incident management, evidence processing, resiliency and workflow additions to its Synergy 3 platform, including the ability to create commentary within a video timeline, to provide more incident context for on-site or remote evidentiary review – for example by a head office or emergency response team.
Jürgen Fuchs added: “We’ve also ensured that enhancements to Synergy 3 enable users to integrate real-time information from external sources such as social feeds and Threat Level Indicators. It all contributes to a process of informed decision making. With many threat scenarios now requiring concerted action across a range of private and public organizations, the ability to support collaborative communications and encompass external risk indicators is hugely beneficial.”
