After BEST

by Mark Rowe

Among those displaying at the British Exhibition of Security Technology on October 20 and 21 at the RAF Museum in Hendon, London were Thirsk based Vemotion.

Stewart McCone, CEO of Vemotion, said: “BEST is one of those must attend events for the sectors of the market in which Vemotion operates. We attend several exhibitions overseas but these UK events remain very much our bread and butter when it comes to our core markets and business has never been better.”

Organisers say BEST brings (quite literally) the best of British manufacturers closer to the towns and cities of the UK and allows visitors to view and try the latest security equipment in a relaxed environment.

Stewart McCone added: “We always say that with Vemotion, seeing really is believing, so BEST allows us to let visitors get hands on with our products and literally see for themselves. Merely talking about the products is not enough. We need to prove they work in practice and exhibitions like BEST allow us to do that, while also meeting up with many of our fellow specialists in the industry.”

Also at the exhibition were several other specialists Vemotion has collaborated with, including icomply and Ogier Electronics. When people think of CCTV, they tend to think of fixed cameras feeding images back to a control room, but BEST allows Vemotion to demonstrate there is more to it.

“People have stereotypical views when it comes to CCTV, but everything from the products, the technology and the way it is deployed has developed in leaps and bounds. For Vemotion wireless systems are a speciality. People do tend to think of dropped signals and reliability issues, so they are truly staggered when they see just how powerful this technology has now become.”

Stewart points out a number of examples from the latest body worn technology, overt and covert systems, mobile deployments and much more – all capable of being integrated for use by police, councils and others according to need, thus reducing duplication, delivering matchless reliability and cutting costs rather than coverage at the same time. Other surveillance products Vemotion offer include vehicle based systems, smartphone video apps and pole mounted transmitter kits and much more.

“With the correct modern technology, the opportunities and advantages surveillance can offer is endless. Yet it is only at events like BEST that give us the opportunity to offer practical demonstrations. We received a number of new enquiries from the event and are following up on them now.”
