Access software

by Mark Rowe

Nortech has relaunched its access control software, as NorPass3 v3.2.

Amer Hafiz, Engineering Operations Manager, said: “As ever, we have worked closely with our installers and their customers to create new features. When we saw how much our other clients could benefit from them, we decided to add the features into the main software.”

Installers who want to download version 3.2 can do so from the ‘Installers Support’ section of nortechcontrol.com. Non-registered installers can ask the company for a free copy of the software on CD.
The developers made changes to the event screen for users to see when people enter or leave a controlled area. For instance, there is the ability to add columns on the event screen. These include ‘department’ and ‘car registration’, and these options mean that security staff can familiarise themselves with the business fields and vehicles of employees. For example, one of the possible applications would be when a large company is able to more easily see if someone from an unrelated department is accessing a restricted area too often for their normal duties. This could reduce the number of thefts in an organisation. Default Card Formats were upgraded and now include a range of various card formats. Previously, users would have to enter card formats manually, but with the latest upgrade, all users need to do is to select the right format from the drop-down list.

In a change to the ‘rollcall’ feature, there is now better printer compatibility, the company says. This means that it is easier to print the roll-call list as soon as a fire alarm starts, which ensures no delay for a printout in an evacuation situation.

Nortech is also introducing IDStudio, a standalone application within Norpass3 v3.2 pack. IDStudio lets businesses create, design and print their own badge designs. This allows companies to maintain their brand consistency and well as minimize expenses, as badge design and print can now be done in-house.

Furthermore the upgrade features Nortech’s latest branding. Nortech has been rolling out new logos and fonts as it restyles itself.

Norpass3 v3.2 manages every aspect of access control. It has features to operate a full range of door set ups, and requirements such as biometrics to vehicle IDs. It also includes an installation wizard which means the system can be installed in minutes. Visit www.nortechcontrol.com.
