Printer version

by Mark Rowe

Evolis, the French plastic card printer manufacturers, have introduced the Primacy Black Edition, a revamped version of its flagship printer, Primacy. This is being launched to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the company. Primacy has recently been loaded with new features.

With a production of only 2,000 units, this limited edition capitalises on the Primacy Duplex version, designed for double-sided card printing. The new printer model comes in red and glossy black, along with carbon effects that dress up both sides. From design, to development and production, this printer was up and running within a very short timeframe, the makers say.

The Primacy Black edition is shipped with cardPresso XS Edition, a software tool to design and personalise plastic cards, with the help on a database if required. A colour (YMCKO-K) ribbon with a capacity of 200 printings is included, with 100 blank cards. This printer is available from Evolis distributors, and is to be shipped out in early November.

The Primacy printer supports all card printing and encoding requirements for medium to large runs. Novelties include extended memory size and printing resolution, a low-card level sensor, an update verification wizard, and an UHF encoder. Other features are scheduled for the beginning of next year, and include an LCD screen, increased printing output for monochrome printing, and an electronic locking system.

Delphine Bidaud, Product Manager for Primacy, Evolis, said: “With more than 50,000 printers sold and over 500 million cards printed since its launch in 2012, Primacy has rapidly turned into a market benchmark when it comes to printing quality and flexibility. The Primacy Black Edition capitalizes on Evolis’ flagship printer, and highlights once again the reason why Evolis has remained unbeaten over the past 15
years: innovation.”

The Primacy Black Edition will be showcased at the Evolis booth (3B070) at the Cartes Secure Connexions trade fair, which will be held at Paris-Nord Villepinte, France, from November 17 to 19.
