Front-desk card printer

Evolis, the plastic card product company, introduces Elypso, a front-desk card printer, suitable the company says for personalising smart cards. Elypso is described as a compact desktop card printer which offers all the features required for instant issuance in one model: manual card feeding, front-desk operations, dual-sided printing and flexible encoding (magnetic stripe, contact and contactless chip card).

Applications include the French company says: payment cards, transport passes, and consumers’ loyalty cards. As for software, this printer is monitored from the user’s interface and through pop-up alerts on the printing status. Cards can be loaded at the printer’s front end, while the printing ribbon, available in a cassette format, can be dropped into its slot in the printer.

Elypso can deliver a personalised card in colour in 20 seconds. This card printer can meet it is claimed any requirement in encoding, from magnetic stripes to contact or contactless smart cards. Encoding features can be combined in the same printer, as encoder upgrades are carried out independently. By linking these add-on encoding modules to the internal USB hub,users can integrate an encoder, on-site, without the hassle of having to ship the printer to Evolis for the upgrade.
