South Thames Colleges services

by Mark Rowe

In south west London, a three-year security services contract with South Thames Colleges Group (STCG) has gone to Amulet, the security division of Churchill Contract Services. The contract that began on September 1 is worth about £400,000, and will see Amulet provide a suite of security services – including manned guarding, event security, and knife search operations.

South Thames Colleges Group covers five Further Education Colleges: Carshalton, Kingston, Merton and South Thames. The Group spans four boroughs – Sutton, Merton, Kingston and Wandsworth. It educates about 23,000 students a year, including 16-18 year olds, adult learners and apprentices; and offers employer training.

Serena Lowe, Regional Director at Amulet, said: “We’re excited to extend Amulet’s foothold in the education sector. South Thames Colleges Group is a prominent institution in the capital, with a prestigious history. That said, the team at STCG has really embraced our vision of providing a forward-thinking security service.”

Maroulla Gibbs, Head of Facilities at STCG, added: “I was impressed by the enthusiasm of Amulet’s senior management team throughout the bid process. Their hands-on, personable approach is in-keeping with our ethos and I’m looking forward to collaborating with them over the coming three years.”
