Sector survey

by Mark Rowe

The contract guarding firm Magenta Security is calling on all individuals and companies within the security sector to take part in research commissioned by the industry body the International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO).

The study on behalf of the IFPO will be run by Prof Martin Gill’s consultancy Perpetuity Research. It’s open to security officers and guards up to the level of “supervisor” in Canada, Ecuador, India, Ireland, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, UK and the United States.

Abbey Petkar, managing director of Magenta, pictured, says: “The more we know the better we can perform, which is what makes this research so important to the industry as a whole. Research such as this gives us a better understanding of what we do, how we do it and how we can learn and consequently improve. Just as no two security guards are the same, so are no two companies or countries. By gathering this anonymised data we will have extensive and in-depth data, which we can interrogate and used throughout the industry going forward.”

The survey is online – visit https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/ModernSecurityOfficerRole.

Thought leadership

In April, Abbey Petkar was one of the panellists in April for one of Prof Martin Gill’s twice weekly online thought leadership webinars under the banner of the OSPAs, the international awards set up and run by Perpetuity. You can listen and read a digest at https://theospas.com/2021/04/14/security-and-sustainability/.

IFPO organisers Yolanda Hamblen (for the UK) and Kevin Palacios (Latin America) meanwhile were on the panel for another webinar, on security officers.
