National key-holding

by msecadm4921

After acquisitions and mergers within the mobile guarding security sector, customer choice was inevitably being reduced. So say three industry men who have formed Nexus National Security Network. Their aim, that local businesses have a voice in the national key holding and mobile patrol arena. The three are former Securitas Sales and Customer Service director Robert Fryer, former Divisional Managing Director for Bell Security (now Niscayah) Bob Woods and former National Business Development Manager of Securitas and G4S, Marc Stanton.

Running through approved local security businesses the company delivers Key Holding, Alarm Response, Mobile Patrols and Void Property Inspections around the UK and Ireland.

When considering the UK key-holding market, Nexus identified four main areas that the team believed they could significantly improve; service levels, reporting mechanisms, communication with customers and a fair pricing policy.

By using local security companies to deliver the services on behalf of Nexus, the company outsources its contracts to the people who are placed to deliver. The three say that local businesses are generally privately owned, have knowledge of the areas where they operate and are more passionate about service – a fact born out from response times, Nexus says.

Having worked in the industry, the three realised the importance of correctly reporting attendances to the customer without having to be chased. To ensure that customers receive up-to-date incident reports, they created an online reporting system, specifically written for Nexus customers. This automated system allows customers to log in and view ‘activities’ on their sites, see their invoices and view any other messages that the company may wish to send them. Writing a bespoke package required investment but the product has been well received by customers says Nexus. Where Nexus is supporting other security companies to deliver their services, this reporting system can be branded accordingly, so that the contract holding company can protect their brand.

Communication has long been an issue in the mobile guarding security industry and can be difficult to manage if procedures are not clear. According to Nexus, gone are the days of customers having to chase for information as they are automatically informed of any activity or incident by the Nexus reporting system. However, the company says it still maintains a personal touch with its customers and uses a variety of methods, including online web-conferences, to keep in contact and to meet customers’ expectations. To back this the company has a written statement which guarantees that a customer can speak to a company director within an hour, 24-365.

Nexus add that they operate a fair pricing policy, determining the price at the start of an agreement and fixing it for the contract duration, which they say flies in the face of some national providers who increase their prices on a regular basis. Nexus say that they believe in setting a fair price for the customer, the network partner and the company and honouring it for an agreed time.

The Nexus team work with end users, alarm installers, monitoring and lone working companies and are happy to hear from other security companies who may not have a mobile security capability, or have limited coverage, to see where they can help. Call 0845 680 5726 or visit www.nexusnsn.co.uk.
