Lone worker device Secured by Design

by Mark Rowe

A safety service for lone and at-risk workers, has gained ‘Secured by Design’ accreditation for its personal safety device. The product is MySOS from Skyguard.

The MySOS, exclusively developed by Skyguard, has met the stringent set by Secured by Design – the UK initiative created by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) that supports the principles of ‘designing out crime’ through the use of products and processes. The MySOS is now externally approved to BS 8484: the British Standard for lone worker device services and can now carry the ‘Police Preferred Specification’ status which guarantees national police approval of its use.

The MySOS joins Skyguard’s GEMshield rugged lone worker alarm in achieving the award.

James Murray, CEO of Skyguard, says: “We’re very proud to be awarded ACPO’s Secured by Design accreditation for the MySOS. Skyguard has a history of producing first-class, innovative personal safety alarms. With ACPO granting this prestigious accolade, the MySOS is fully certified and compliant to the highest industry standards. End users can be safe in the knowledge that by using Skyguard, everything, from the personal alarms to our 24 hour manned, UK-based Incident Management Centre is constantly monitored, assessed and subjected to rigorous external testing. It confirms what we already know… that Skyguard provides the premier personal safety service for lone workers and those at risk.”

Skyguard’s service is fully certified to all elements of BS 8484 and BS 5979 (Cat II) standard for alarm receiving centres.

MySOS offers one button alarm activation, GPS tacking and locating, two-way voice communications, speed dial and voice memo (amber alert); starting at just £9.95 per month for 24/7 response.
