Living Wage provider

by Mark Rowe

The contract guarding company Ultimate Security Services is becoming a Recognised Service Provider working alongside the Living Wage Foundation.

The company will offer a Living Wage option for each request for tender. This means that the guard firm will pay their contracted staff a wage that meets the cost of living and pay the real Living Wage to all staff working for its core business.

The London Living Wage stands at £9.75 per hour and covers all boroughs in Greater London. The UK Living Wage for outside of London is £8.45 per hour. These figures are set annually by the Resolution Foundation.

The Living Wage Foundation recognises employers across the UK. Almost 3,000 employers commit to paying all of their directly employed and contracted staff the real living wage as part of its accredited employer network. Some 75 Recognised Service Providers work with the Living Wage Foundation to offer Living Wage options for contracted staff, ensuring a real Living Wage is always possible when outsourcing services.

Steve Hall, Ultimate Security Services CEO, pictured, said: “I am delighted that we have been successful in achieving recognition as a London Living Wage Service Provider and we are very proud to be working together with the Living Wage Foundation. This organisation is at the heart of the movement for fair pay and we believe that the recognition reflects the importance we place in our people here at Ultimate. Our people are at the heart of everything we do and we understand our responsibility to demonstrate commitment to always offer a real Living Wage option when contracting staff to clients.”

And Living Wage foundation director, Katherine Chapman said: “The benefits the Living Wage brings to staff and business are clear. I welcome the leadership shown by Ultimate Security Services on this important issue.”
