Head of Client Services

by Mark Rowe

The security contractor Dardan has appointed a former Army Commander of Intelligence and Surveillance, Major Andrew Buxton, pictured, as its new Head of Client Services. He has over 30 years’ operational experience within the British Army.

A former chief instructor at Sandhurst, Andrew joined Dardan after finishing his career in the Royal Anglian Regiment as Head of Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance for a 1,000 strong battle grouping. In 2015, he was mentioned in the New Year’s Honours for the instrumental part he played in creating the Ministry of Defence’s contribution to the UK Government’s counter terrorism strategy.

At Dardan, Andrew will help to provide new integrated security solutions which combine manned guarding and new technologies; he will develop business across the country while helping to identify potential new business opportunities.

He holds an MBA, a Master’s in Leadership and Management, is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and a member of the Security Institute.

He says: “As well as my Master’s degree, I’ve completed eight months postgraduate study at the Defence Academy where I focused on the Global Effects on Security, Counter Insurgency and Management of Risk. Moving into the next phase of my career, I wanted to be surrounded by likeminded people and be in role which allows me to use the skills I have gained.”

He will also work alongside recently appointed UK Training Manager Roger Clarke who brings with him 30 years in the police working within hostage and crisis negotiation training and management, and will oversee Dardan’s training strategy.

Philip Anthony, Managing Director of Dardan Security, with head office in Cambridge, adds: “Bringing someone of Andrew’s background and expertise into the company is extremely important in the expansion and continued development of the company and the services it offers. His appointment will help us to continue our growth and provide unparalleled levels of insight, knowledge and training to our clients.”

With the Royal Anglian Regiment, Andrew made multiple tours of Northern Ireland, Balkans, Middle East, Asia and Africa. Focused on overt and covert surveillance, intelligence and reconnaissance, primarily in hostile environments, he has experience of identifying threats and vulnerabilities and creating systems to mitigate risk. He was also the MOD’s principal planner for the design and implementation of regional contingency plans for the protection of Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) in the south east and was the MOD’s operational lead for their contribution to flood relief operations in 2014.
