The guard firm Magenta Security reports that it’s to provide 1,200 meals for children across Birmingham during the half term holiday.
Working with local organisations, the security contractor will provide those meals to those children most in need of support and at risk of hunger this week.
Abbey Petkar, pictured, managing director of Magenta Security Services, said: “Children should not be punished for situations beyond their control. I am not interested in the politics or the debate, just the need to help those who are vulnerable and facing challenges. Children have always been at the forefront of Magenta’s community and charity efforts and I am delighted to be in a position to provide immediate support through this initiative, whilst being on standby to help further in the future if necessary.”
The provision of the meals during half term represents further support for children by Magenta who already sponsor 25 children in war-torn and deprived places, aged four to 16; funding education, health and welfare.
Background
A petition on the UK Parliament website asking that ‘no child should be going hungry’ has topped 900,000 signatures. Labour called on the Government to make children a national priority, while PM Boris Johnson insisted that no children would go hungry as ‘a result of any Government inattention’.
