G4S hails Facebook

by Mark Rowe

G4S reports its resourcing Facebook page has passed the 50,000 ‘like’ mark, leading to over 11,000 job applications via its online careers centre since January 2012. Since January, more than 100,000 visitors to the G4S Facebook page have clicked through to careers.g4s.com to view roles.

The company is hailing the growth in its social media standing since it was established in early 2012. G4S is one of the world’s largest employers with around 620,000 staff in some 125 countries. It’s hiring 200,000 people every year. Its Facebook has job tips, key developments at the company besides images and videos about G4S employees at work at various locations across the globe. Hence an average of over 750 stories being created on G4S’ Facebook page every day.

Colin Minto, head of resourcing, G4S, said: “As one of the world’s largest employers and recruiters, we are continually looking at ways to reach potential members of the G4S family more quickly and effectively.

“Social media is now a crucial part of that process, enabling us to reach a truly global audience quickly and visually. With operations in over 100 countries, the global reach of social media is invaluable for G4S, and it now forms a key part of our community engagement strategy.

“Our Facebook presence and the vast number of conversations that take place on the site every day, allows us to manage perceptions about the types of jobs we offer and help strengthen G4S as a leading global employer brand.”
