Fund for employee scheduling software

by Mark Rowe

You can seek European regional development funding to part- or fully-fund employee scheduling and workforce management software, a firm says.

The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) is designed to support smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. Security businesses are eligible for grants of between 25 and 100 per cent of the cost of the SmartTask software – the available amount is dependent on the region. Less developed UK areas get greater support. The application for funding is via a network of local Growth Hubs and the overall process typically takes around two months.

Lincoln-based Static Security Services got a grant covering half of costs for three years. Having identified the need for SmartTask, the company worked with an advisor from its local growth hub, Business Lincolnshire, to identify the most appropriate subsidy. As a result, Static Security Services has the software solution to help better manage its 27 guards.

Zoe Venn-Walton, Office and General Manager at Static Security Services says: “We recognised the need for an advanced employee scheduling and workforce management solution that would streamline our rostering, check call and control room processes. The funding contribution made it an easy decision to adopt SmartTask and we are now well-placed to use the software as part of our ongoing growth strategy. Our grant application was simple and straightforward, so we appreciate the support provided by both Business Lincolnshire and the team at SmartTask.”

Paul Ridden, CEO of SmartTask adds: “Our software is a proven tool within the security sector, helping businesses to adapt and grow. However, some organisations may not have the necessary cashflow to adopt the solution, so the ERDF is an effective way of subsidising the costs and overcoming any funding obstacles. The SmartTask team is available to help interested security businesses to find their local Growth Hub, as well as offer guidance on how best to apply for funding based on our experience with other companies.”
